--- I think u over dramatize...U said it yourself : The elite guard had like 3 choices , take her for themselves , keep her chastity in secret then sell her to make money , see if they can silently promote her to a man of the court , instead considering the initial non unanimous which happens as usual when it comes to a fine young female in the beginning of her prime they disagreed and for the sake of not killing each other they decide to play the discipline part.
